(1969-1971) Vice President - insurance sales, certified applicant Million Dollar Round Table.  In 1971 began to devote full time to real estate development, construction and management activities by establishing Great Eastern Management Company.  Principal in Ivy Capital Corporation and several other corporations and partnerships.  Former Board Member of National Optronics, Inc.  Former Chairman, Finance Committee Chair and former member of Board of Trustees of the Martha Jefferson Hospital, former Chairman Planning Committee, and member of the Board of the parent Martha Jefferson Health Service Corporation and member of the Boards of the Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation and the Martha Jefferson Physician Hospital Organization.  Former Board Member of the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, member of the Board and Executive Committee of the Thomas Jefferson Partnership for Economic Development, member of the Board of the Free Enterprise Forum, member of the Board of the Fund for Public Education of Charlottesville-Albemarle, Secretary/Treasurer and member of the Board of The Women’s Initiative, Advisory Board Member of Habitat for Humanity and Advisory Board member of the Blue Ridge Chapter National Multiple Sclerosis Society and two-time Co-Chair of the Annual MS Dinner of Champions.  Member of the Citizens Committee of City County Cooperation (5Cs) and former member of the Thomas Jefferson Venture.  Former member of the Parents' Advisory Counsel of Mary Baldwin College and former member Board of Trustees of St. Anne's-Belfield School.  Former Board and Executive Committee member of Colonial American Bankshares Corp.  Also former Board and Executive Committee member of Albemarle Bank and Trust Company and former President and Board member of the Blue Ridge Home Builder's Association.  Member of numerous appointed Albemarle County and City of Charlottesville committees and commissions, including County Fiscal Impact Advisory Committee and the City Hillsdale Drive Extension Steering Committee.  Recipient of the Chamber of Commerce’s 2007 Small Business Person of the Year Award; Martha Jefferson Hospital’s Henry Thielbar Award for Leadership and the Thomas Jefferson Partnership for Economic Development 2003 Business Partner of the Year Award. Married to the former Whitley Vogler of Winston-Salem, N.C., with two daughters.
