Also attended Burley High School where he was a member of the football and basketball teams.  Joined Great Eastern as an employee in 1973, having previously provided maintenance on a subcontract basis.  Owns and operates Taylor's Cleaning Service which employs more than 25 people and provides janitorial and maintenance service to approximately 35 businesses in the Charlottesville/Albemarle area.  Included are major accounts such as Citizens Commonwealth Building, Optagon Partners, National Optronics, Jefferson Medical Building, East High Street Professional Building, Court Square Building, BB&T Bank, Cedar Court and Waterhouse Building.  Recipient, Maintenance Supervisor of the Year for Charlottesville/Albemarle by the Blue Ridge Apartment Council in December 2006.  Son, Darnell, Jr., is active both with Great Eastern and Taylor's Cleaning Service.
