Graduate of North Carolina State University (1955) B.S. in Electrical Engineering.  Raytheon Manufacturing Co. after graduation until accepting commission in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve (retired as a Commander).  Executive Engineer, Teledyne Avionics. President of Great Eastern for over 20 years: responsible for development and construction activities and coordinating major maintenance and renovations for apartment and commercial departments.  Past Chairman of Board of Directors of Albemarle County Service Authority.  Past President and Board member of both the Blue Ridge Home Builders' Association and North Charlottesville Business Council.   Former Board Member of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Chamber of Commerce, Salvation Army and the Martha Jefferson Hospital Leadership Council.  Also, former member of Albemarle County's Land Use Regulatory Committee (LURC) and Development Area Initiative Steering Committee (DISC) as well as several other less important Albemarle County land use committees.  Married to the former Margaret Rose of Greensboro, N.C., with three children and three grandchildren.
